About the Client
A leading provider of fleet and logistics management solutions delivers multi-tenant SaaS applications to enterprise customers across Europe and the Middle East. As the business continued to expand, the organization sought to transition from Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support its long-term cloud strategy while maintaining operational continuity.
To enable a low-risk migration, the organization engaged Lauren Group to design a scalable AWS foundation, establish migration readiness, and develop a phased roadmap for future production migration.
The Problem
- Existing production workloads hosted on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) Autopilot
- Requirement to migrate to AWS without impacting live production traffic
- Need to establish a production-grade AWS landing zone before migration execution
- Requirement to preserve existing application architecture and operational workflows
- Need to accurately map GCP-native services to equivalent AWS services
- Requirement to evaluate GPU requirements for AI inference workloads before infrastructure sizing
- Need for a phased migration approach that minimized operational and business risk
Our Approach
To support the client's cloud migration strategy, we:
- Designed a production-ready AWS Landing Zone using Amazon EKS as the target Kubernetes platform
- Established dedicated staging and development environments to validate workloads before production migration
- Mapped Google Cloud services to equivalent AWS services, preserving the existing application architecture
- Designed a phased migration strategy that excluded production workloads during the initial implementation phase
- Evaluated AI infrastructure requirements through a structured GPU assessment approach before provisioning GPU resources
- Preserved existing GitOps workflows and secrets management to minimize operational change
- Defined clear roles and responsibilities to support controlled migration planning and execution
Tech Stacks Used

Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL

Amazon S3

Amazon ECR
AWS Secrets Manager

AWS Fargate

Amazon EC2
The Result
Our phased migration strategy enabled the client to establish a secure and scalable AWS foundation before transitioning production workloads.
The engagement provided:
- A production-ready AWS landing zone aligned with future migration requirements
- Reduced migration risk through dedicated staging and development environments
- A structured roadmap for transitioning Kubernetes workloads from GCP to AWS
- Infrastructure planning aligned with AI workload requirements
- A scalable cloud foundation designed to support future growth and operational continuity
