About the Client
A global provider of privacy, cybersecurity, and secure connectivity solutions had expanded its cloud footprint over time to support multiple business units and products. As the organization grew, its AWS environment evolved into a complex, multi-account landscape, increasing the challenges of cloud governance, operational visibility, and infrastructure management.
To establish a more scalable operating model, the organization sought to consolidate its AWS environment under a unified governance framework - improving visibility, simplifying management, and creating a strong foundation for future cloud growth.
The Problem
- AWS infrastructure distributed across 15+ independently managed AWS accounts, creating operational complexity
- Lack of centralized governance and account management across multiple business units
- Large-scale cloud estate comprising Amazon EC2, Amazon EKS, Amazon RDS, Amazon S3, Amazon EBS, and Cloudflare services
- Additional undocumented AWS accounts discovered during the assessment, increasing migration scope and planning complexity
- Requirement to consolidate AWS accounts while preserving business-unit isolation and governance controls
- Need to understand infrastructure dependencies before defining migration sequencing
- Requirement for a structured migration strategy aligned with business priorities, operational continuity, and long-term scalability
Our Approach
To help the client prepare for a successful AWS Organization consolidation, we:
- Conducted a comprehensive assessment of the AWS environment and Cloudflare estate
- Documented infrastructure inventory, workloads, cloud services, and cross-service dependencies
- Designed a target-state AWS Organization architecture with centralized governance and consolidated billing
- Developed a phased migration roadmap based on dependency analysis and migration priorities
- Established migration readiness criteria covering technical, operational, and governance requirements
- Created detailed assessment documentation to support migration planning and execution
- Collaborated with AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) stakeholders to align planning and funding considerations
- Supported third-party migration planning through structured technical documentation and governance recommendations
